About Us

What We're About

The UK hemp market's got a lot of brands in it. Most of them are light on detail — vague sourcing claims, no lab reports you can actually find, and product descriptions that tell you next to nothing.

We're not doing that. Calm Leaf is a focused range of hemp flower and CBD solid extract, selected by people who know this category well. Every strain gets assessed before it goes live — cannabinoid profile, terpene character, aroma, trim quality, the lot. Most don't make it.

What's left is what you'll find on the site. Proper stuff, backed by paperwork.

Where the Hemp Comes From

All Calm Leaf hemp is sourced from EU-approved cultivars — varieties registered under the EU Common Catalogue, which sets the legal framework for hemp cultivation across Europe. That's not a nice-to-have. It's the baseline for growing hemp with THC levels that sit within UK law.

We're upfront about how each product is grown. There are three tiers on the site and they mean something:

Premium Indoor

Controlled environment from start to finish. Consistent temperature, humidity, and light cycles year-round. Higher cost to produce, tighter consistency batch to batch. It shows in the profile.

Premium Greenhouse

Natural sunlight, structural protection. A proper middle ground — better consistency than full outdoor, lower production cost than full indoor. Greenhouse growing often produces excellent terpene development from natural UV. Good value for what it is.

Glasshouse, Outdoor & Shake

Full outdoor or semi-outdoor cultivation. More variable by nature — but the right strains grown outdoors develop character that indoor growing doesn't always replicate. We include this tier honestly rather than pretending everything we sell is premium indoor.

EU Cultivar Compliance Every hemp variety we stock is derived from cultivars listed on the EU Common Catalogue of agricultural plant varieties. This ensures THC content stays within the 0.2% threshold set by UK law — verified independently on every batch, not just taken on a supplier's word.

Lab Testing — What Gets Checked and Why

Third-party testing is the only honest way to verify what's in a hemp product. We send every batch to an accredited independent lab before it goes on sale. Not our own lab. Not a certificate from the supplier. An independent one.

Here's what gets tested on every batch:

Test What It Checks Why It Matters
Cannabinoid Profile CBD, THC, CBG, CBN, CBC levels by percentage Confirms THC is within the 0.2% UK legal limit and that stated CBD content is accurate.
Heavy Metals Lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury Hemp absorbs what's in the soil. Poor sourcing shows up here fast. Clean soil, clean product.
Pesticides & Herbicides Residual agrochemical screening EU cultivation standards restrict pesticide use — but testing confirms it independently rather than relying on the grower's say-so.
Microbial Contamination Yeast, mould, E. coli, Salmonella Storage and handling conditions matter. Clean product throughout the supply chain, not just at source.
Moisture Content Water activity measurement Affects shelf life and mould risk. Dry and stable means it stays that way in your hands.

Finding the Reports

Lab reports are linked from the individual product pages. You don't need to ask for them, email us, or fill in a form. They're just there. If a product doesn't have a current report, it's not listed.

UK Regulatory Compliance Calm Leaf products comply with the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001. Our hemp flower is sold as hemp tea — a botanical product for infusion — in line with current UK FSA and MHRA guidelines. We don't make medicinal claims. Full compliance overview available here.
